Lipton's Seat
About Lipton's Seat
Lipton’s Seat is a breathtaking hilltop viewpoint near Ella where Sir Thomas Lipton once admired his vast tea empire. Surrounded by rolling tea plantations and misty mountains, it offers one of the most spectacular panoramic views in Sri Lanka’s hill country.
Named after Sir Thomas Lipton, this iconic spot overlooks the very tea estates that made Ceylon tea world-famous.
Early morning visits reward travellers with golden light, floating mist, and clear views stretching across multiple provinces.
The road to the summit winds through lush tea estates, offering a close-up look at Sri Lanka’s tea culture and daily life of tea pluckers.
On a clear day, you can see as far as the southern coastline from this elevated vantage point.
Less crowded than Ella viewpoints, Lipton’s Seat offers a serene and refreshing mountain experience.
